Hi there, Campers! We are well into the Clapocalypse, and it's been a good time so far! We've got another inspirational treat for listeners today.

What happens when you blend talent, competitive spirit, authentic passion for change, and thoughtful resilience in the high-stakes world of high school speech and debate? In this episode of Camp One Clap, we welcome back South Dakota Speech and Debate ambassador Breanna Wollman. Breanna shares her transformative journey from a nervous freshman to a triple threat champion in Original Oratory, Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, and Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Balancing competitive pressure with personal enjoyment is no easy feat, especially for high school seniors. Breanna reflects on the valuable lessons learned from her speech and debate journey, emphasizing the importance of remembering why you started and finding joy in the process. She offers insights on navigating leadership and performance expectations, the significance of grace from coaches and peers, and how focusing on fun can lead to surprising success. Breanna's stories from various tournaments underscore the importance of resilience and perspective, making this an episode rich with heartfelt wisdom.

We also dives into the transformative power of speech and debate as tools for activism and personal growth. Breanna discusses her plans to study political science at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and her aspirations to work on Capitol Hill. The discussion highlights the critical role of communication skills in achieving professional success. We also explore the universal fear of public speaking and how conquering it can open doors to numerous opportunities. Breanna's insights provide a compelling argument for why Speech and Debate are invaluable skills for the future.

Thank you to Breanna for coming by Camp One Clap and giving us strength for the Clapocalypse!
