Episode 27: Josh Hansen & The Ronald Reagan Great Communicator Debate Series Championship

Jackson Hole Speech and Debate Superstar, Josh Hansen, dropped by the One Clap Speech and Debate Podcast to talk about the ways Speech and Debate has influenced his life, his deep run in the Ronald Reagan Great Communicator Debate Series Championship this summer, and his complex journey towards tournament snack perfection.

Senior Josh Hansen is, without a doubt, a competitor to watch on the Wyoming circuit. The Jackson Hole competitor finished last season a Wyoming State Champion in Congressional Debate and a National Qualifier in Public Forum debate. Josh also advanced to out rounds in Extemporaneous Debate at the National Tournament. Probably the most impressive accomplishment of Josh's year was his showing at the Ronald Reagan Great Communicator Debate Series this summer.

After placing third at the regional series of the debate and just missing out on championship qualification, Josh entered the online last chance qualifier and went up against over 200 debaters from 38 states. After a whole lot of debate, Josh emerged triumphant - capturing first place. This victory earned Josh a trip to the online championship series. I interviewed Josh before this debate, but he did find success at the championship series. He advanced into the top 8!

Josh explains the way that the Great Communicator Debate Series works in the interview, and it is a pretty fascinating event with some potential opportunity for Wyoming competitors in the future. Thanks so much to Josh for his time and insight on the podcast. Good luck to Josh and all Wyoming competitors this season!
